The dominance of low cost Domestic Flights market, Air India is also jumping in this field from next month (September 2009). Air India, the Indian Govt. occupied company announced its low cost airline service in domestic field with the name of “Air India Express”.
According to Air India spoke person, currently low cost airlines having 60 to 70 percent share in domestic air traffic. We are launching this “Air India Express” service to take away the deficit. He said that, currently we will start this service on 27 routes in the country, routes will be finalized soon. The service will be available on all busy routes of country like Mumbai, Kolkata, Bangalore, Goa, Chennai, Jaipur and Kerala.
According to a rough idea, the commercial operation of this service will be start from 14th September of next month. The official person said, we will priority to on time performance and Cheap Air Tickets to compete with other low cost domestic airlines. Generally, the 122 seats available for economy class and 20 seats available for executive class in an A-320 aircraft but in low cost airlines nearly 148 seats available for economy class.
The competition is very tuff in this field because some low cost airlines like Indigo, Jet Lite, Go Air, Jet Connect, Spicejet and Kingfisher Red are already leading the low cost domestic flights market.
